
The International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) has presented at the 90th session of the General Assembly in New Delhi a metaverse specially created for law enforcement around the world.
According to the statement:
“The fully operational INTERPOL Metaverse allows registered users to take a virtual tour of the headquarters of the Interpol General Secretariat in Lyon, interact with officials through their profile pictures, and even take immersive training courses on forensics and other aspects of policing.”
The organization has also created the Metaverse Expert Group.
The Interpol believes the growth in the number of users of virtual worlds will be accompanied by an increase in crimes in them.
Among the possible threats, the organization has named data theft, money laundering, financial fraud, counterfeiting, extortion, phishing, sexual harassment as well as harassment.
