A Russian user of Bitstamp has reported that his account has been blocked without the possibility of withdrawing funds. On the Reddit platform, he said the company took action “in light of current events in Ukraine and subsequent regulatory directives.”
According to the user, the exchange blocked his account in mid-April. He lost access to functions related to trading, deposits and withdrawals.
There were no statements in the official Bitstamp communication channels regarding restrictions for users from Russia. However, it was previously reported that the exchange is blocking transactions related to sanctioned banks.
Coinbase has earlier announced it is ready follow the sanctions against Russia. At the same time, the company has noted that it will not take preventive measures against addresses associated with users from Russia.
