Robinhood has announced on its blog that it has added support for Solana, Polygon, Compound and Shiba Inu.
While users can only buy and sell these crypto assets, the ability to top up wallets and withdraw funds will appear later. The company has clarified:
“Over the past year, our customers have consistently asked for two things: the ability to send and receive their coins, and a wider choice of cryptocurrencies. In response to the first request, we have already activated crypto wallets for everyone who was on the waiting list – that is, more than 2 million people. We are now excited to address the next point.”
The Head of Brokerage Services of the company, Steve Quirk, has noted that when choosing coins in Robinhood, they were evaluated according to “a strict set of rules.” According to him, the platform should remain a safe and educational space.
In July 2021, Robinhood co-founder Vlad Tenev called cryptocurrencies the cornerstone of the company’s development.
